I volunteer at Carson Tahoe Hospital one day a week and the perk (aside from warm feelings help patients and their visitors) is the hospital buys the volunteers lunch at the Sage Cafe. The bacon they use is so fantastic that I almost always get a BLT on toasted sourdough. I skip the fries with the sandwich, but every now and then I get the fish and chips, so I can attest to how delicious they are! Fish and Chips is a very generous order, sometimes I get an order to go and we share it at home. Sage Cafe is or at least was, originally created to serve hospital employees, but it's so popular they do a big pickup/to go business. Other medical offices in the area place big orders for their staff. Because of how much the patronage has grown the line to order, and finding a place to wait...at busy times it is a bit congested. But it's Carson City and everyone is small town nice, no stress. At peak lunch times they often have a stir fry line, you fill out a form indicating veggies, proteins, rice or noodles and various seasoning and sauces and Jorge stir fries it up! There is also a Poke Bowl station, similar process...you fill out a form, indicating your choices. The cafe also sells packaged frozen food, snacks etc, more for employees I'd imagine. As someone else mentioned, there is a kind of hidden menu....baked potatoes full loaded, to go containers FULL of tater tots. The staff is top notch. The guys on the line are super willing to make modifications or create half orders. Back in December my daughter was a patient at CTH and one of her nurses recommended I try the Cibatta French Toast (I think breakfast ends at 10am). OMG, really hard to believe this wonderful breakfast is at a hospital cafe. They cut the bread and arranged it to form a heart...wish I had a photo of that! Hmmm, guess I'll have to go back for breakfast just to get a photo. Prices are great, service friendly, food is really delish. Maybe I need to volunteer twice a week.

On the way home from a road trip we stopped at a nearby hotel and this was the highest rated and closest to the hotel for food. We weren't quite sure about going to a hospital for dinner but why not?!?! We were greeted at the front door by the hospital receptionist. She was so kind and helpful as you have to check in first before going to the cafe. I ordered the BLT w/ avocado added with a side of fries. My hubby ordered the French dip sandwich with a side of fries. The French dip came with a side of aujus that was basically flavorless which was disappointing. The food was hot and prepared pretty quickly. We got two drinks and were out under $25.00. The young man that checked us out was very friendly and engaging. The dining room had amazing natural light and was clean. They had a full array of condiments for your food as well. That area was clean and organized very nicely. The value for what you received is very good.

The food at the Sage Café, even though it's at the hospital is amazing. The chef's and service people are friendly and they do a good job at meeting your needs. It's one of the best priced places to eat here in Carson City, offering a wide range of different choices for a meal. I used to have a friend that would go on a date with his wife once a month, driving down from Sparks Nevada to enjoy a meal. It's a great place to eat.

Finally tried Sage Cafe in the CarsonTahoe Hospital.. 1st. Was kind of confusing on ordering as there was a menu on the wall and people standing all over waiting on orders. No biggie, we figured it out. Hubby n I decided on trying the reuben as we love those sandwiches so much. They do not have onion rings on the menu, but they do serve them and omg so so good. They had no ice for the drink machine, so we opted for a bottled water. The cafe itself is kinda crazy, but it all works. Once we walked up to the grill and placed our order, it was a matter of time as it is made fresh to order period!!! Love that aspect. We received our order in probably 7 to 8 minutes. Which is not bad at all as we went during lunch and they were busy. Now a reuben, onion ring and a water were under 10.00 6.95 sandwich 2.10 onion ring add on .85 for a bottle of water. You will not break the bank eating here and you will be full for sure. We shared and could not finish it all. Once you leave the order area wth your food, you walk into the dining entrance where you pay, get your condiments, silverware etc. The dining room was spacious, clean and very inviting for a nice quiet lunch. Plenty windows for a nice ambience. Outdoor tables for when the weather is not so cold. They have a decent sized menu and just 2 people were busting out the orders. As well as very friendly. If I had to critique 1 thing on this meal the bread was soggy on 1 side from the extra juice I'm guessing from the Sauerkraut. But the corned beef, cheese and bread were so delicious. Great amount of everything. We will be going back. Imma have to go try a burger next. Great prices and amounts for the working class. I see why they have the review stars they have.

Now this is part of the hospital so the ambiance is such. It is very, very clean and well stocked. The food is excellent and nicely varied. We had the BLT with fries and crispy shrimp tacos. Both were excellent. The bacon was cripsy and both the lettuce and tomato were fresh. Fries were hot and crispy. The tacos were fresh with very big shrimp lightly breaded. The service was great as well as quick. In and out in less than 10 min.

Hospital cafe extraordinaire! I heard rumors of the great food and value. No joke! We tried the steak sandwich with fresh onions, peppers, and mushrooms. Also the crispy shrimp tacos. Beautiful, light, and healthy. When I ordered the sandwich, they asked if I wanted fries. Yes. They were good, but others ordered onion rings and tater tots. Next time! The food was great and they spent less than $20 (including 2 Perrier waters). The burgers looked absolutely amazing and only $7, so I will definitely bring our family back for a meal. The jalapeño popper grilled cheese looked interesting too. If only they had beer...probably not since it's a hospital.

Shockingly good hospital food! Visited this cafe a lot while visiting a family member in the hospital. I was expecting the usual nasty, expensive hospital food, or food that just seemed like it was frozen and warmed up. To my surprise, the safe cafe was great! The prices were very reasonable. And the portion sizes for the hot meals were huge! My favorite meal was the hamburger with fries. It was delicious. On Christmas they had a nice special Christmas meal They also have a salad bar, soups, frozen meals, drinks and plenty of packaged snacks. There is a huge dining area with plenty of seats

Unfortunately, I found myself spending a fair amount of time at his hospital over the summer. Thankfully, Sage Cafe gives you one less thing to worry about while you or a loved one is here. Sage Cafe is a complete redefinition of typical hospital food. Normally, it's atrocious. The food here, however, is on par with some restaurants you'll find around town. I've tried the French dip and their French toast with black berry compote and my wife tried their turkey club. All of the food was damn good considering where you are. The service was...meh. When you arrive, you place your order with the cooks. On my first visit, the guy was....indifferent. Not rude, necessarily, but not polite either. The next day, it was a different guy and he was super friendly. So I guess it just depends on the day. To pay, you go to the checkout register in the cafeteria and you're free to use the tables there to eat. It looks like a break area as you'll be surrounded by doctors and nurses but rest assured, you're ok to be there.
